Flexibility Is a Key Benefit of Franchising for MaidPro’s Kathryn Boyce

Kathryn Boyce is a MaidPro franchisee in East Orlando & Lake Nona, Florida. She opened her business in 2006. Below, Kathryn shared some of her thoughts on franchising and the MaidPro brand with us:

 

What was it about the franchise model and/or leadership that led you to purchase it?

MaidPro believes in growth in all aspects of the business. From creating a software system to starting international offices, all the way down to the best cleaning supplies, MaidPro is always pushing to stay ahead of the industry and implement best practices to streamline our success.

What type of business experience, education, and/or skills did you have prior to becoming a franchisee that you have found particularly helpful?

My education in accounting has been the most helpful for owning my own franchise. Understanding the numbers and growth models came naturally to me. I also have experience in the restaurant business that provided me the people skills I needed for staffing and customer service.

What things do you like most about your job?

My job isn’t just a job; it’s a way of life. I get to spend my time helping people and I even have time for my own personal hobbies and interests, such as helping animal shelters. Owning a MaidPro gives me the freedom to help my staff care for their families. I am able to pay them a fair wage and provide flexible hours. I am able to help my community; our clients are always getting the most efficient, detailed home cleaning which in turn helps give them back their time. And, I love the other franchisees and home office staff members. To me, they are family. People in this organization have huge hearts from the day-to-day operations to the charity work MaidPro takes part in.

How did you fund your franchise? Did you receive any discounts/incentives?

I was able to fund my franchise through a home equity line of credit. They were extremely considerate and fair to work with as my territory grew and I opened up an additional office.

What advice do you have for prospective franchise buyers? What do you wish you had known prior to going into franchising?

I do not think there is anything I would have done differently; it was a growing process. I feel that I knew exactly what I needed to going in and learned the rest along the way. My advice would be to do your homework, check out other companies and compare them. I would recommend MaidPro to anyone looking for a successful, growing, flexible, and friendly franchise!
