Jesse Zook is a MaidPro franchise owner based in Philadelphia, PA. He has owned his franchise since 2006.
What was it about the franchise model and or leadership that led you to purchase it?
The MaidPro model gives me powerful tools (marketing, technology, etc.) to run my business. In addition, the cultural leadership and vision for the company is what truly impressed me and ultimately led to my decision to become a franchisee.
What prior business experience, education, and/or skills have you found particularly helpful?
I studied Information Science at University of Pittsburgh which helped me think about my business as a set of systems. I’ve been able to scale my business and delegate responsibility to others as I’ve improved these hard and soft systems.
What do you like most about your job?
The roles in my company have a lot of flexibility. I like being able to work when and where I prefer. I have a lot of room to choose what I’m working on; I enjoy taking deep dives into different areas of my business. I’m free to work on side projects as well.
How did you fund your franchise?
Despite the relatively low cost to start a MaidPro, I needed outside funding since I was only two years out of college when starting up. I’m grateful to have my father as an equity partner. Later, MaidPro helped me grow by financing my expansion into additional markets.
What advice do you have for prospective franchise buyers?
I was briefly a franchisee for a food service company and there was a major culture clash going on in that organization. When zeroing in on a franchise, speak to as many franchisees as you can and spend time with them. You are marrying into the brand, the corporate franchisor, and the franchisee community. I feel deeply aligned with MaidPro’s culture and at home in the organization.
