Caring Senior Service franchisee Tom Kopp wasn’t always in franchising or the senior care industry. A retired lawyer who worked as an insurance claims executive, Tom opened his Caring Senior Service franchise in 2012 and currently has 35 employees. Originally from Northern New Jersey, Tom lives in Yardley, PA, with his wife and three children. He loves to play golf and competitive darts in his free time.
What made you decide to look into purchasing a franchise?
I was looking to own my own business, and the franchise was the most efficient way to start one. My corporate opportunities at the time required long 1 to 2-hour commutes each way. That did not balance well with my family life. I knew I would receive tons of support in a franchise network and could start a home care agency close to where I live.
Financing can be an obstacle and/or intimidating factor for aspiring entrepreneurs. How did you find financing options to purchase your franchise?

How does the franchisor support and encourage your success?
Caring Senior Service provides me an excellent network to learn the ropes and consult on many issues. The resources such as the technology, training and marketing materials are excellent.
What are you most proud of and why?
My agency has been a consistently successful operation over the years. I’m so grateful that it supports my family and I’m so glad I made the choice to invest in a Caring Senior Service Franchise.
What advice would you give to new or potential franchise buyers?
Take advantage of all the resources available to you in your franchise system. Of course you first need to find out that the franchisor offers great training, support, and more. Ask questions of the franchisor and other franchisees to get to the bottom of it. Read their franchisee satisfaction reports.
