“Marianne and Lyndon Christman are truly FirstLight RockStars! Not only are they ideal franchise owners from a background and motivation perspective, but they’re also highly engaged in brand leadership and service quality.” – Jamie Davis, Executive Director of Franchise Development, FirstLight Home Care

What advice do you have for someone considering investing in a franchise?

Do your research, make sure you feel like you can trust the franchisor, and they are in the business for the same reasons you are. Be prepared to invest a lot of time on the front end, and get to know some of the other franchisees around you.

What are you most proud of when it comes to your career in franchising?

Without a doubt, it’s the care our staff provides and the difference we make in people’s lives. Every day we have the privilege and opportunity to enhance the lives of our clients, and allow them to age in the place where they call home.  We have some very dedicated employees who are compassionate and exceptional at what they do. It’s also a great feeling to have the ability to offer employment for over 100 individuals who are great caregivers and assist them in their lives.

What was your career path before you entered franchising?

Lyndon was in Hospital Administration for over 30 years;  Marianne worked for a large Medical Equipment supplier as a Senior Manger of National Accounts and also is a Licensed Practical Nurse.

As a business owner, what has been the biggest challenge you’ve had to overcome?

With a start-up, it’s a lot of work until you are large enough to employ others. Work/family life balance, making time to relax and refresh.

What do you like most about your franchise organization?

The franchisor’s mission and vision. They have provided some excellent support and employ strong individuals with a wealth of knowledge.
