When did you start your business?

I started my business in San Antonio, TX, in 2023.

During your research, what made your franchise brand stand out?

Real Property Management stood out to me because of the values, the commitment to continuous improvement, and the camaraderie of the franchise business owners. 

I came from a company that started each meeting with the mission and values, so it resonated with me that the values meant something, not just words. I appreciated RPM’s investment in innovation and how they embraced new technology. 

During the validation calls, I heard from owners how connected they were to their fellow owners and the amount of support they felt from the corporate office, which was crucial for me. I felt like they walked the walk instead of just talking the talk.

How did your franchisor help you to prepare for and launch your business?

Real Property Management provided support across the spectrum. It started with my SureStart coach, who helped me get through the steps to set up my business. I loved the training program that helped develop my business sales flow, marketing, and technology support. 

I could not have opened my business as quickly as I did without their guidance, direction, and best practices. It took a village, and it felt good to be surrounded by a team that rolled up their sleeves and got to work alongside me.

What advice would you give potential franchisees considering your brand?

I recommend researching the FDD, asking questions about the future strategy, and making the most of your time with actual owners during validation calls to ask any lingering tactical questions. Look at the type of external recognition Real Property Management and Neighborly receive, as well as the caliber of the talent they attract, not only to their corporate office, but also as franchise business owners.

What specific things set YOUR franchise apart?

I am actively engaged and connected to my community, specifically the active duty military and veteran community, through my local non-profit work and participation in leadership development programs with the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and George W. Bush Presidential Center. 

I apply the leadership principles to my business to build and deepen my relationships not only with my owners and residents, but within the Real Property Management First Class team. Our people are the secret sauce. We are focused on the positive impact we have on people’s lives through our work, which shines through in how we do our work.

What specific things contributed to your success?

Specifically, I lean on my military, corporate, and non-profit leadership experience to guide my values-based decision-making, which contributes to our overall success. 

Combine that with a foundation built on the values of service, integrity, and respect. As well as the best practices, wisdom, and lessons learned from my fellow franchise business owners, and the support of Real Property Management. With these pieces in place, you’ve got a successful business.

What unique strengths and skills do YOU bring to your franchise?

My core values come from the Army values, my business strategy of putting people first comes from my corporate experience in mission-focused organizations, and my non-profit experience of working with people from every walk of life. 

With my human resources background, I have cultivated the ability to build strong collaborative teams, seeking ways to develop and grow my team so they reach their goals and potential. I invest time in my people and their development.

What is something that might surprise people about franchise ownership?

It might surprise people to know that franchise ownership is FUN! We focus so much on the business side of ownership, but I appreciate that one of the values of Real Property Management and Neighborly is to HAVE FUN in the process. 

It’s an opportunity to have fun building a business from the ground up with the guidance of an engaged franchisor and an inspiring community of fellow owners, providing you with the tools to accelerate your growth. Although I am the sole owner of my business, I’ve never felt on my own. I always know exactly who to call when I need help or advice.
