Supporting Families With Compassionate Elder Care Consulting

Man's head shot

Chris Lyboldt established Senior Care Authority Atlanta in 2020 with a mission to support families across the region through the overwhelming challenges of aging and finding compassionate senior care. His team offers expert elder care consulting, placement assistance, family coaching, and advocacy services—all tailored to meet the unique needs of each client. Whether guiding families through the selection of assisted living or skilled nursing facilities, helping coordinate in-home care, or connecting them with trusted local resources, Chris brings compassion, experience, and deep community knowledge to every situation. Each plan is personalized to ensure families feel confident and supported throughout their decision-making journey.

His journey began with a deeply personal experience—finding the proper care for his father-in-law. During this quest, Chris became immersed in the senior living community, gaining firsthand insight into the challenges families face when searching for compassionate elder care. After Bob’s passing in 2017, he felt compelled to help others make informed, compassionate decisions for their loved ones. Blending his experience in teaching, corporate strategy, and elder care consulting, Chris consistently demonstrates an empathetic approach and ability to simplify complex decisions. Beyond his work, he is active in his church, he’s an avid tennis player, and an animal lover. He and his wife, Daryl, live in Atlanta with their son, Aidan, their dog, and two cats.

During your research, did you use FBR’s website to compare franchise opportunities? What other resources did you use?

I did not. Instead, I accomplished this through interviews with a few companies. I also used a franchise broker to help me find Senior Care Authority. Additionally, I got an SBA loan to help finance the purchase.

How does the franchisor support and encourage your success?

Senior Care Authority has played a pivotal role in my success, especially during the early months, through its comprehensive training, coaching, and mentoring programs. One of the most common comments I hear from clients is, “I didn’t know that someone like you existed.” While the training was invaluable, it was the one-on-one conversations with the franchisor that truly grounded that knowledge in practice. These personalized sessions helped transform the training into actionable insights, allowing me to become an indispensable resource to the families I serve.
Beyond training, the company creates consistent opportunities for growth, with monthly owner meetings and “knowledge exchange” sessions that introduce new strategies and deepen our industry expertise. The most significant asset I’ve gained, however, is the franchisor’s openness to innovation. He recognizes that in a competitive market, differentiation is key. What truly stands out is that I’ve never heard him say “no” to an idea—an invaluable trait for a franchisee looking to stand out. This openness has allowed me to differentiate myself and continuously grow in ways that drive success.

What are you most proud of and why?

I purchased my franchise two weeks before communities, care homes, and many health care outlets shut down due to COVID. I’m proud that I’ve been successful for five years now, in spite of that hurdle. And, when I look back and see how difficult it was to get started during that challenging period of time, I am also proud that I managed to have faith that this business would endure during the tough times. Most of all, I am proud of how many families lives have been touched by the services I am able to provide. I believe this is what has gotten me where I am today – a happy, satisfied, senior care professional!

What advice would you give to new or potential franchise buyers?

There are four competencies a person needs to be successful in this business.

  1. Empathy and compassion.
  2. Skills in education and facilitation
  3. Business development skills.
  4. Grit and resilience.

My advice to new buyers is to do a competencies inventory to determine if they excel in each of these four areas.
