Air Force Veteran Turned Franchisee with New Again Houses

Air Force Veteran Turned Franchisee with New Again Houses

Robert Ware is no stranger to hard work. Originally from Baltimore, he served in the Air Force for 10 years after high school. After purchasing his first franchise, a local service business, he later became a police officer in Delaware. He continued as a business owner and police officer until 2005 when he left to focus on his business. He later added a New Again Houses franchise and it is thriving.

This Air Force veteran turned franchisee has a son and daughter, and spends his time working at his local church, learning Jiu Jitsu, spending time at the Beach and reading with his two dogs Sophia and Blu.

What made you decide to look into purchasing a New Again Houses franchise

I’ve always wanted to learn about real estate. I took a class years ago as a real estate inspector. That was my plan to learn the business and somehow start to fund the projects. I saw a New Again Houses post on social media and got hooked. I looked at all the videos of the current owners. They looked like normal people and didn’t come with the normal real estate spins you might find with other companies. They talked in a language I could understand. Not everything comes without problems but using the New Again Houses system you could work hard and find success. That was exciting for me to hear.

Financing can be an obstacle and/or intimidating factor for aspiring entrepreneurs. How did you find financing options to purchase your franchise

With my first franchise I used an internal bank. With New Again Houses, I was fortunate to using money I had in savings to fund my purchase of my franchise.

How does New Again Houses support and encourage your success?

There is a onboarding process that takes you through various steps to evaluate and be evaluated. I liked that idea because it meant I was going to be around people that thought like me and people that I could learn from and be inspired by. My training was self paced. That was good for me because some subjects did not come easy. But, it helped that I had someone (a coach) walking me through the steps and ensuring I was progressing in my studies. It was also great because I had no clue about how to run a real estate project from cradle to grave. Along with my coach I had a cohort group to meet up with and another coach that looked at the building process. There are guardrails built in that help you avoid mistakes. When things happen you learn, talk it over with someone with a  similar experience in our network, and grow. Then, you implement the changes on the your next project.

What are you most proud of and why?

I’m proud I have put fear behind me and I’m more confident in this business because of my training and coaching. There is so much more to learn and I embrace continued learning. But most importantly, I’m helping someone have a home! That makes me feel grateful when I know my hard work is helping another person, family and the community at large.

What advice would you give to new or potential franchise buyers?

If you find something that let’s you bet on yourself, and it can provide you and your family with financial freedom and an opportunity to give back to your community, then its’ worth serious consideration. Look for a brand that not only supports your goals, but also connects you with like-minded owners across different states who believe in its mission. If you find that combination, study the opportunity carefully and move forward with confidence.
