When David Pelletier and his family moved from New Jersey back to their home region of Eastern North Carolina, they immediately began exploring the idea of buying a franchise. With a background in the automotive industry, the Tint World franchise opportunity appealed to him right away. The franchise helped David, his wife, son, daughter, and son-in-law combine their automotive, customer service, and management experience with the retail skills required to operate a Tint World® Automotive Styling Center. Today, the family owns two very successful Tint World territories in Jacksonville and Wilmington, North Carolina, with a combined staff of 20 employees.
During his research, David discovered that the Tint World franchise has an impressive portfolio of services, an established reputation, and a proven, profitable business model. Building on his automotive experience, he leveraged Tint World’s thorough training, extensive franchisee support, cutting-edge technology, and wide-reaching customer base to achieve award-winning success. Here’s a glimpse into the Pelletier family’s journey to multi-unit, award-winning Tint World franchise ownership.
Why did you purchase a Tint World franchise rather than start an independent business?
Tint World‘s franchise business model addressed all my questions—all the training and processes were already in place. I didn’t need to know everything to get started; it has all been tested already.
Did you have a specific industry or brand in mind when you began your search?
We knew we wanted to do something with cars, and Tint World was just the perfect franchise for us.
Which skills and experiences were most helpful in launching your business?
My customer service experience and ability to talk to people made this business a natural transition, and my management skills were also a big help.
When researching franchises to buy, what criteria mattered to you most?
I wanted a franchise opportunity with multiple revenue streams and a simplified process. I found that with Tint World.
Did you speak with other franchisees? Which questions did you ask?
After meeting with the Tint World team, I didn’t speak with other franchisees or ask questions. They addressed all of my questions and concerns.
Which questions did you ask the franchisor?
My questions focused on the franchise system’s strength and stability. I was reassured and satisfied with everything I discussed with the Tint World franchise team.
What were your biggest challenges starting out, and how did you overcome them?
The process of getting up and running with Tint World was very easy. We did have a little learning curve as we had never been on the retail side of a business. The corporate team guided us through best practices for operating a retail automotive shop. The support and advice we received from corporate has been a lifesaver. Today, we’re the go-to shop for automotive styling in our region. Corporate is always there to support us. They always help us through any challenges that come up.
How does your franchise support and encourage your success?
We work closely with our operations manager and follow all updates from the Tint World corporate team.
What are you most proud of and why?
The International Franchise Association selected us as Franchise of the Year, and we also won Franchise of the Year within the Tint World franchise system. When we opened our second location in Wilmington, my son, Cameron, and son-in-law, Tyler Olinger, were awarded Franchisee of the Year by the IFA for being “outstanding franchise establishment owner-operators.” I’m very proud to receive this recognition.
What advice would you give to new or potential franchise buyers?
I would advise Tint World franchise candidates to get off the fence, jump in, and get involved with a franchise system. They will not be disappointed.
The Tint World franchise system is built on a foundation of proven principles that have been successfully implemented by people from all walks of life. You don’t need automotive industry experience to become a thriving Tint World franchise owner. Tint World provides one of the industry’s most comprehensive pre-opening training and assistance programs.
