Ziebart franchise owner

Ben Rogers, owner of the Ziebart franchise in Bay City, Michigan, has proudly led the shop since 2022, continuing the legacy of a location established in 2009. He was drawn to Ziebart for its trusted reputation, hands-on support, and commitment to quality. With a background in leadership and a passion for service, Ben saw the franchise as an opportunity to build something meaningful for both customers and the local community. Now recognized as a 2025 Rock Star in the Giving Back category, Ben focuses on creating real opportunities for others, supporting causes close to his heart, and offering top-tier automotive protection services that keep customers coming back.

During your research, what made your franchise brand stand out?

As the owner of a Ziebart franchise, what really made our brand stand out to me was a combination of three key factors: quality, support, and community reputation.

First, the quality of products and services was a big differentiator. From high-grade window films and ceramic coatings to proprietary rust protection chemicals, everything we offer exceeds industry standards. That commitment to quality builds trust with customers and keeps them coming back.

Second, the franchise support system was incredibly strong. As someone entering a competitive market, I wanted a partner that offered real training, ongoing business support, marketing resources, and vendor relationships. Ziebart delivered on all fronts. It wasn’t just about handing me a playbook; they actively work with me to grow and adapt my business.

Lastly, Ziebart already had a strong regional and national reputation, especially among auto owners who care about protecting and customizing their vehicles. That kind of built-in brand recognition gave me a huge head start in the local market.

When customers walk into our shop, they know they’re getting top-tier products and service, backed by a name they can trust and that’s what truly sets us apart.

How did your franchisor help you prepare for and launch your business?

The support I received from Ziebart was a major reason my launch went smoothly and successfully.

From the beginning, they had a step-by-step onboarding process that walked me through everything: from securing the right location and ordering equipment, to hiring staff and setting up services. They helped me avoid a lot of the typical startup headaches by sharing proven systems that were already working in other markets.

The training was hands-on and thorough. I went through both technical and business training. During technical training, I learned how to properly install window tint, apply ceramic coatings, apply rust protection, and install accessories. Business training covered marketing, customer service, and day-to-day operations. That training gave me the confidence to open my doors, knowing I could deliver quality work from day one.

Even after the launch, they’ve been by my side with ongoing coaching, vendor support, and performance reviews, making sure I’m not just open but growing. It truly felt like I had a partner invested in my success, not just a company selling a name.

What advice would you give to potential franchisees considering your brand?

My advice to anyone considering joining Ziebart is simple: do your research, trust the system, and be ready to work hard.

First, do your homework. Take time to really understand the brand’s values, the services you’ll offer, and what makes Ziebart different from other franchises. Talk to current owners; I did, and their insight helped confirm I was making the right choice. If you’re passionate about vehicles and customer service, this business is a great fit.

Second, trust the system. One of the biggest advantages of joining this franchise is the proven playbook. Ziebart gives you the tools, training, and support to succeed, from top-tier product sourcing and hands-on technical training to marketing strategies that work. Stick to the model, and it will pay off.

Lastly, commit to the grind. This isn’t a hands-off business, at least not in the beginning. You’ve got to be involved, build your reputation in the community, and lead by example. But the rewards are worth it. I’ve seen real growth, built strong customer relationships, and created something I’m proud of.

If you’re serious about business ownership and want to be part of a brand that actually supports its franchisees, Ziebart is one worth looking into.

Name three things that empower your success

There are three key things that truly empower my success:

Ziebart Support & Systems:
Ziebart’s proven business model and ongoing support have been game-changers. From streamlined operations to marketing tools and vendor partnerships, I’ve been able to focus on growth rather than trial and error. Their training programs gave me the confidence to deliver top-tier service right from the start and their continued guidance keeps me sharp and competitive.

High-Quality Products & Services:
Our customers trust us because we offer premium-grade window tint, detailing solutions, rust protection, and truck accessories. Having access to industry-leading products gives us a strong edge and allows us to stand behind every job we do. That trusted reputation for quality builds long-term relationships and strong word-of-mouth referrals in the community.

Local Community & Customer Relationships:
At the end of the day, success comes down to the people. We’ve built a loyal customer base by being honest, consistent, and community-driven. Whether it’s a local truck owner looking for Ziebart’s protection services or someone wanting better UV protection in their vehicle, we take pride in serving our neighbors; that personal connection drives repeat business and referrals.

What are the causes closest to your heart and why?

Giving back to the community has always been a core part of why I got into business in the first place. There are a few causes that are especially important:

Hire veterans, employ and support veterans.

Supporting Veterans and First Responders:
I have deep respect for those who serve and protect, and I’ve seen firsthand the sacrifices they make. We proudly offer discounts to veterans, active-duty military, and first responders. Beyond that, we try to partner with local organizations that support veteran-focused nonprofits. It’s one small way to give back to those who’ve given so much.

Supporting Those with Mental Illness or Cognitive Disability:
I’m a big believer in providing a productive work environment for people with disabilities to enjoy gainful employment by helping them develop appropriate soft skills. That’s why I support local nonprofits that match and support these individuals with their preferred work environments. Seeing these employees succeed and witnessing their sense of pride and accomplishment is very personally fulfilling for me.

Local Small Business and Community Development:
Michigan is built on small businesses, and I’m passionate about supporting fellow entrepreneurs and community initiatives. We collaborate with local businesses, join community events, and try to be an active, positive presence in the area. When the community thrives, we all do.

At the end of the day, owning a business isn’t just about profit — it’s about purpose. These causes reflect our values and give deeper meaning to the work we do every day.

How does business ownership empower you to give back or “pay it forward”?

Business ownership has given me the platform and resources to truly give back and “pay it forward” in ways I couldn’t before.

First and foremost, it gives me the ability to create local jobs. I’m able to hire people from the community, train them in valuable skills, and offer them a path to grow. Some of my best team members had no prior experience, just a strong work ethic, and now they’re building solid careers. Helping people find opportunity and stability is one of the most rewarding parts of ownership.

Second, I’m able to support causes and organizations that matter to me. Whether it’s donating services to veterans or providing support for those employees who need it, I now have both the means and the voice to make a difference. When you own a business, people listen, and that gives you a chance to lead by example.

Finally, business ownership has empowered me to mentor other aspiring entrepreneurs. I’ve had conversations with people thinking about starting a business or joining a franchise, and I’m always happy to share my experience: the good, the bad, and the lessons learned. If my journey can help someone else take that leap with more confidence, then I’ve done something worthwhile.

Owning a Ziebart franchise is about more than just turning a profit. It’s about building something meaningful, giving back to the community that supports us, and helping others succeed along the way.

What is your proudest achievement?

My proudest achievement has been building a business that serves my community while providing real opportunities for others.

When I first opened the doors, I had a vision; I didn’t want to just run a successful shop, but to create a place where customers could trust the work, employees could grow their careers, and the community could benefit from our presence. Over time, we’ve accomplished just that. We’ve earned a strong local reputation for quality and service, and word-of-mouth referrals now drive a huge part of our business. That’s something I’m incredibly proud of.

But what means the most to me is watching my team grow. I’ve seen employees come in with little to no experience and, through training and hard work, develop into highly skilled, confident professionals. Creating those career paths, especially for people who need extra support, has been one of the most fulfilling parts of the journey.

So while hitting revenue goals and expanding our services are great milestones, my proudest achievement is the impact we’ve made right here at home – one job, one customer, and one relationship at a time.
