Franchisee Spotlight – Skyhawks Sports Academy Franchise Owner, Ally Reid

Franchise Business Review’s President and COO, Michelle Rowan, met with Skyhawks Sports Academy franchise owner Ally Reid, to discuss his path to franchise ownership and the benefits of owning his Skyhawks franchise.

Ally is a lifelong athlete and sports enthusiast. He’s played multiple sports at both amateur and semi-professional levels, including the opportunity to represent the Great Britain American Football team and several coaching stints across many Universities. After qualifying as a teacher, he spent ten successful years in youth sports in the U.K.

In 2019, Ally was researching resources to develop sports programs for less active children in school when he came across an ad for the Skyhawks Sports Academy franchise. “I really wasn’t looking for a franchise, specifically, or even another job at the time,” Ally said. “But it did get me thinking. Then, one day, while visiting the U.S., I went on a helicopter ride. Our pilot was Scottish, and I asked him about living and working in the U.S. He told me he was on an investment visa. That really got me thinking!”

“I remembered the Skyhawks franchise opportunity sparking my interest, so I visited their website and tried to learn as much as possible about it.  Now, three years later, here I am, a franchise owner! My wife and I chose the territory. We wanted the business to be in an area with strong growth potential. So, we explored territories together and landed in Texas. She’s really not involved in the day-to-day of the business. But franchise ownership was definitely a family decision.”

Watch the video to learn more about how Ally followed his passion for sports education and found his dream career inspiring and engaging kids in positive experiences through sports. Ally brings his love and enthusiasm for athletics to his Skyhawks community in Alamo City and across the Texas Hill Country.
