Wil and Ayten Mauk, Expedia CruiseShipCenters Franchisees

Wil and Ayten Mauk help individuals in the Greater Atlanta area create the best vacation possible with their Expedia CruiseShipCenters franchise, and they believe their success can be attributed to a tried and true model.

What was it about the franchise model and or leadership that led you to purchase it?

We were searching for a franchise business model that we would be able to manage and operate for the rest of our lives. When we discovered the Expedia franchise opportunity, it really called out to us: We love to travel and it is an exciting industry to work in. Expedia provides the tools needed and extensive support to help us build our business.

What type of business experience, education, and/or skills did you have prior to becoming a franchisee that you have found particularly helpful?

I (Ayten) have experience in franchising because I owned a successful salon franchise that I sold in 2017. I feel like I have insight since I know how two franchise business models differ. I found it helpful to have background experience because I was able to set realistic expectations and knew the steps in the process. I also have a sales, finance, and marketing background, which I believe will contribute to the success of our agency.

What do you like most about your job?

The Product:  Travel is something everybody does and talks about. People are excited before, during, and after their vacations.  Who does not want to get on a plane and go to an exotic location and see that wonderful thing they saw in a magazine or on TV?

Work Place:  Our travel center is located at a wonderful shopping center and it is very bright.  I love going there and working with the consultants.

Marketing:  This is very dear to me.  I believe the power of it and love to execute the marketing tools to drive business to our Center.

What advice do you have for prospective franchise buyers? What do you wish you had known prior to going into franchising?

Recruitment is very important in the Expedia franchise model. My advice for prospective franchise buyers is be comfortable with recruiting and make sure the potential recruits’ are passionate about travel and helping others book the vacations of their dreams. We want our consultants to have good spirit and to enjoy working in our Center. I have been franchising for a while now and I would advise new franchise buyers to pick an industry that excites them. Put the time and effort into getting established. If you want a long-term business that will keep you excited and build equity, Expedia CruiseShipCenters will have your back and support you every step of the way!
